And just like that summer is on our doorstep. Warmer days, longer nights and a whole host of new tastes, smells and activities to enjoy with the ones you love. If there is one sound that captures summer in our home, it is the blender– the sound of ice crushing and dancing with fruit and juice (and after 5pm booze) promising something crisp and refreshing, generating giggles that are followed quickly by the silent sound of smiles spreading across the face of those you love.
My go to summer drinks always involve fresh fruit, crisp clear ice and any number of nectars, juices or waters. My top 3 cool down drinks start off as a mocktail to ensure the whole family can enjoy them, and with a quick turn of the wrist, dress up as a party drink for the after 5pm crowd.
Lychee Coconut Tropical Smoothie – This mocktail is like a tall glass of the tropics, the only thing missing from this recipe is light rum… but then I suspect that thought already crossed your mind.
Olympic Torch Toast – Blend with ice for the perfect frozen shot that will surly ignite your summer party.
Stewed Cherry Lemonade – Oh the fun I have had with the recipe. Add a splash of Vodka and freeze to turn this tart potion into boozy popsicles, or blend with ice and Vodka for the perfect summertime frozen cocktail.
I will be sharing a few more of my favorite summer drinks on the #CelebrateSummer chat on Twitter Monday 21 May at 8pm EST and would love you to share your tips and recipes for staying cool when the weather heats up. Please join us for an hour long chat filled with prizes and summer time inspiration.
